CEO and Privacy Officer

Rene Mendizabal is an accomplished business leader and privacy professional with extensive experience in business strategy, global privacy compliance, and organizational leadership. He drives the firm's business strategy and leads its compliance programs with a steadfast commitment to "Transparency, Accountability, and Integrity."

Rene holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Rotman School of Management, where he honed his expertise in strategy and integrative thinking. He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas. He graduated with the inaugural cohort of the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Privacy and Cybersecurity Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he also completed an LL.M. in Canadian Common Law. He is a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) and holds multiple certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (CIPP/C, CIPP/E, CIPM).

In addition, Rene has advanced training and experience in dispute resolution, having earned postgraduate certificates in Conflict Resolution from York University.

Before joining PulseLaw, Rene led privacy and compliance initiatives at major organizations such as Walmart Canada, Bold Commerce, TrustArc, and Nymity, specializing in privacy governance, cross-border data transfers, and regulatory compliance.
